Healthgrades Announces 2020 Patient Safety Excellence and Outstanding Patient Experience Awards

As the country reemerges from the coronavirus crisis, consumer behavior around healthcare is changing as consumers become increasingly aware of the importance of hospital quality.

Today, Healthgrades is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020 Patient Safety Excellence and Outstanding Patient Experience awards, which recognize the hospitals around the country that make patient safety a top priority and provide an outstanding patient experience. This year, 456 hospitals across the nation achieved the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award and 424 hospitals received the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award. You can see the full list of recipients here

At the time, Healthgrades released new data from the COVID-19 Patient Confidence Study that found that consumers are 65% more likely than they were prior to the onset of coronavirus to choose a hospital based on the quality of care they will receive, over other factors like travel time. These findings signal a shift in consumer behavior and underscores the importance of hospital quality for both consumers and healthcare organizations.

We also want to commend the hospitals around the country who are dedicated to keeping our families and communities safe. This year, we asked several 2020 award recipients to share their experiences and reflect on their efforts to maintain a high standard of patient care during the COVID-19 crisis. You can read their stories in our latest report, “Leading Voices from the COVID-19 Front Lines.”

As the healthcare industry starts to resume more normal operations, we encourage consumers to reference available resources to make informed healthcare decisions. Visit https://www.healthgrades.com/quality/hospital-ratings-awards to learn more.
