In honor of National Hospital Week, we want to extend our gratitude and thanks to hospitals around the country for their commitment to keeping our communities safe during these extraordinary times. While we know the road “back to normal” will be a long one, it’s important to take a step back and reflect on the progress we’ve all made in the fight against the pandemic.
In this spirit, we wanted to share with you a list of our favorite things that have kept us sane throughout our time in quarantine.
- Meditation: Start your day – or unwind at night – by starting a meditation practice. For new or seasoned meditators alike, both Headspace & Ten Percent Happier are a great place to start a mindfulness practice.
- Audiobooks + Podcasts: Listening to a new book on Audible or podcast that is unrelated to COVID-19 is the perfect escape. Our favorites include: Healthcare – Top 10 Podcasts for Providers by Healthgrades; Wellness – Happier with Gretchen Rubin; History/Science – Overheard at NatGeo, Stuff you Missed in History Class, Star Talk; Business News/Trends – Robinhood Snacks, Business Casual, Work Life by TED, How I Built This
- At-Home Workouts: Healthy body, healthy mind! There are endless options for free workouts that you can tune into, including a 30 day free trial to the Peloton App and streaming Orangetheory Fitness At Home Workouts. If you’re interested in yoga, try Peloton yoga classes or Yoga with Adriene (free on YouTube) with everything from 10 minute yoga flows to hour long guided classes to keep you moving and relaxed.
- Spotify: Besides streaming your favorite tunes, users now have access to a Daily Wellness feature personalized with podcast, meditation and song recommendations to help you unwind.
If you are a healthcare provider or work in a hospital – we thank you – and hope these resources help you relax and recharge during this unprecedented time. What has been your go-to resource to stay healthy during quarantine? Leave your suggestions in the comments below!
